At Doorstep Carpentry we specialise in loft conversions. There are 2 choices:
COMPLETE CONVERSION – ‘ready to paint then furnish’
PART BUILD CONVERSION – Part build conversion will be fully completed on the outside and the inside can be taken to a stage of your choice depending on your budget and competency on finishing the work for budding DIY enthusiasts.
Types of loft conversion
Velux – If your roof lends itself to good head height and walkable space you can convert the loft without altering the structure. This can reduce the cost dramatically. With Velux windows both sides you can get plenty of sunlight in your new conversion.
Prices range from £25k – £30k including VAT
Dormer – usually for a terraced property a rear dormer is the best way to give you the desired room in your loft generating the head height potential across the back of the house.
Prices range from £36k – £43k including VAT
Hip to Gable and Dormer – The gable wall is built up to the ridgeline and a brand new section of roof is created usually this is where the new stairs will be placed. The Dormer can then be built across the entire width of the house to maximise the lofts space.
Converting your garage or an outbuilding is a practical and potentially low cost way of creating new bedrooms, office or living spaces without structurally altering the house.
Generally converting existing spaces into usable rooms will not require planning permission.
With Covid-19 having had a huge impact on businesses, converting a space can allow you to work from the comfort of your own home. Why not use the opportunity to convert a room or space so that it can allow you to continue to provide those needed services that your customers or employers still require from you? A garage or outbuilding can provide the ideal opportunity to achieve this new workspace.

Doorstep Carpentry are available to help you with that new kitchen installation, or to build bookshelves, wardrobes and cabinets into alcoves, existing cupboards, attic spaces or storage areas that are too small for more formal conversion.
Dependent on your requirements it may suit you to split a large space into smaller dwellings or perhaps to convert those smaller rooms into a larger, more open living space. Doorstep Carpentry can advise you on maximising your home’s potential.
